18 May 2012Win a place in London 2012 history at John Lewis
Official London 2012 product licensee Hornby has joined forces with John Lewis Cribbs Causeway and Swindon , official department store provider to the London 2012 Games, to run an exclusive competition for customers in the final countdown to the Games and on the day when the Olympic Torch Relay will pass through Bristol (22nd May) and Swindon (23rd May).
John Lewis customers will have the chance to design their own Official Destination London 2012 taxi in store, with the 12 winning entries nationwide being displayed at John Lewis Stratford City (adjacent to the Olympic Park) at the culmination of the 70 day Olympic Torch Relay and in time for the start of the Games.
One lucky winner will also have their entry reproduced on a 1:18 scale replica London Destination 2012 taxi.
In addition, a life-size Destination London 2012 taxi will be filled with Hornby London 2012 merchandise, and customers will be asked to guess how many items are in the taxi for the chance to win a complete set of the 40 Piece Destination Taxi Collection worth £200.
The Olympic Torch Relay will help shine a light on the whole of the UK, with 8,000 Torchbearers carrying the Flame through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages in the UK over a period of 70 days.
Those not lucky enough to have been named as an official Torchbearer can also get involved by purchasing their very own 1:5 scale model of the Olympic Torch in-store from the London 2012 Shop at John Lewis.
The extensive range of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games souvenirs offered by Hornby Hobbies Ltd includes the first and only Team GB Velodrome Cycling Set from Scalextric, Destination London 2012 taxi collection and London 2012 mascot key rings.
