Bruce Leyland-jones
A glimpse of life in the Modelling Man Cave, once I've tidied stuff up and I can see that I have the following kits on the go at the mo'...A trio of Micro Ace 1/144 Mitsubishi T2. These are old Arii kits, supplied with some smart new Blue Impulse decals.A FoxOne 1/144 Hawker Beechcraft Texan II...a sweet little resin kit from Japan. Somewhat pricey and not without it's problems, but I needed to see what all the fuss was about, regarding FoxOne.A brace of Oz Mods 1/144 BAe Hawk T1. I'll be polite and refer to these as 'Kleenex kits', each being a box of issues. An Anigrand 1/144 Gloster G40...a bonus kit, supplied with the Anigrand Boeing C-17 RAF.An AML 1/72 Siebel Si-202 Hummel...I'm on a bit of a trainer bent at the moment and this fiots the ticket. Consider it a German Percival Proctor.A TanModel 1/72 TAI Hurkus, from my Good Bud Baris, in Turkey. This is my second Hurkus and I'm able to take advantage of the lessons learned during my first build of this pretty little trainer.A Revell 1/144 Landing Ship Medium...something different, but it's in 1/144, so I'm content. Lots of bits to play with and it won't be too big when it's finished.I'm taking this asd a practice, before the Revell 1/144 Flower-class Corvette is out, later in the year. The Monogram 1/144 Missile/Rocket set...currently stalled, 'cos I'm putting off the white paint.Anigrand 1/144 Vickers Valiant B1...lovely resin, but, again, put off 'cos I need to paint white.Finally...*Drum Roll*...an AIRFIX 1/72 Bristol Blenheim Mk.IVF. Not the easiest of builds, but manageable and an easy improvement on it's predecessor. Slight delay with this, as the box contained Mk.I transparencies, instead of the proper Mk.IV ones.So what're you upto? Regards,Bruce
Richard Humm
I'm currently working on an Minicraft 1/16 scale Mercedes 300SL Gullwing as a commission for a colleague. I should also finish the Airfix Vampire T.11 that's sitting on the shelf of doom at the moment before I start anything else.
DavidJC
1/48 Trumpeter RN Sea Hawk with aftermarket decals. Though I want to do the kit version with invasion stripes I've read negative reports regarding the kit's decals and I don't know I have the confidence to paint them, even with Tamiya masking tape. So it will be a Sea Hawk with more straightforward markings, possibly Brawdy or Ark Royal. Will decide that when it's ready to decal.
Airfixer
David - be bold and do the stripes. The worst that can happen is you might need to strip the paint - so what. You'll never know if you don't have a go! On the bench of madness:Airfix 1/76 M113 Cav as an Aussie APC in Vietnam,Airfix 'tiny' Cutty Sark (starter kit),Airfix 1/72 Brewster Buffalo (for an ANZAC Day build), andAirfix 1/72 Folland Gnat (the old one - as painting exercise). best to all,AdrianOrstraylia

appy5437
In the final stages of a beat up Airfix 1/48 PR XIX. I'm aiming for the whole line of spitfires, this is the 6th one. Long way to go!
Pretty Mediocre Modeller
Just finishing a Mister Craft lynx in 1/72. The boxing is for an Army Lynx, but there are enough parts to do an early Navy lynx as well, so I've used aftermarket decals and produced an Argentine Falklands bird. It may have been about the worst kit ever for fit with half a tube of filler going into it. Next up is the Airfix new tool Do 17.

Ratch
Just broke out two Academy P-47s. Before starting I washed the runners in soapy water. The two kits are identical, only the decal sheets are different. Pilots are not included so I chose crew from my spares box. These were already painted so I merely gave them an oil wash to enhance the shading and detail. There is a good variety of armaments and drop thanks that may be used. I dipped the transparencies in Klear then airbrushed the cockpit interior, wheel wells and instrument panel. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24638568/411090481.jpghttp://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24638568/411090482.jpgThese kits are designed to have their undercarriage down. A little packing is required to prevent the undercarriage doors collapsing into the wheel wells. I cut some scrap plastic card to act as the packing, stuck this into the wheel wells and fixed the doors over the packing into position. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24638568/411090483.jpgA little filler was needed under the rear part of the fuselage. I used Vallejo Model 70400 Plastic Putty, smoothed into the gap with my finger. All parts were primed and pre-shaded. I airbrushed the engine cowling, drop tanks and the bombs and rockets.http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24638568/411090484.jpghttp://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24638568/411090485.jpg

Ratch
And finally complete. These Academy kits bear the product codes 2105 & 2174, but they are identical apart from the decal options.2105 has decals for WZ*S “Eileen” of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, Duxford, 1944.http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24302431/411117735.jpgFor 2174 I chose decals by SuperScale (sheet No. 72-886) to make WZ*V “No Guts No Glory” flown by Major Benjamin J. Mayo of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, Duxford, 1944.http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24302431/411117729.jpgBoth together...http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24302431/411117742.jpg
Pretty Mediocre Modeller
Just started the new tool Airfix Dornier Do17Z. very nicely moulded detail and very full cockpit and busy bomb bay. Plenty of optional loads with 20 SC50 bombs and 2 SC250's plus a bomb bay fuel tank.So far I've put the cockpit parts together, they are very delicate, so be careful when removing parts from the sprue. It's also a little fiddly to get them together, but once they are the fit is okay.I got the dogfight doubles boxing with the defiant, with markings for the aircraft that was saved from the Goodwin Sands a couple of years ago. It comes with mini pots of acrylic paint, but I'm using paints from the Humbrol Luftwaffe range, and so far have put a couple of coats of Hu 240 RLM 02 on the interior./media/tinymce_upload/cda878eb47224449b0dbb6d66929786b.jpgPort side cockpit, with pilots pedestal. Note the moulded in spare MG ammo drums./media/tinymce_upload/e9f61c741428f68ce8e42577ab6b702f.jpgStarboard cockpit, the two seats were very tricky to fit./media/tinymce_upload/fb24f2f536da4f3ad74728320799d1cd.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/fc8c2c447c2a1bd1726a477f1a84552d.jpgA couple of shots of the defiant that came in the set. Airdrone94
Just completing a pair of 1:72 Spitfire MkV's. One a Revel and one Airfix. The Revel is better tooled but has unecessary fiddle bits (e.g. Oil cooler comes in two skinny sections that are hard to fit). And why does Airfix not put the red bit in the middle of the roundal?they look great together though.I have about a dozen other kits aslegacy from my son but I have a series of special treats lined up now that could take years. Namely 1:24 Hurricane MkI (£20 at Hobbiecraft some months ago) and 1:24 Typhoon and FW190 (thanks Airfix for the VE Day deal!!)

DavidJC
I got the Airfix 1/48 Red Arrows Gnat and Hawk set as a Christmas present and I've started the Hawk. I have issues with the instructions and I've had to use a bit of filler here and there, but as far as I've got anyway, generally the fit's been quite good. When it's finished I wil post a photo or two although I'm not rushing as I am limited as to when and how I can spray, and to be honest the underside decals look to be an absolute nightmare. I have to say, underside decal dreading aside, thus far it's been a thoroughly enjoyable build.
