Quality Model Kit

A very good quality model kit, especially molding of plastic parts is superb. Several improvements are required, such as push button need an insert to work properly, electric motor positive and negative polarity need to be changed for more air thrust, smaller diameter heat shrink tubing is required, spinner must be glued on spindle and there is no "Sound" other than spinning electric motor which I expected a sound circuit board supplied with the kit. Other than these building this model is a breeze and I liked it.

DO NOT BUY THIS POOR KIT

Very dissapointed with this kit. Instructions are a joke! Were the correct wiring instructions lost in translation? Supplied screwdrive did not even tighten one screw before rounding off, then when using a decent screwdriver the screw heads round out. Very poor quality! NOT SUTABLE FOR AGE GROUP 9+ Maybe 20+

Honest Review - Item Not Recommended

9 year old son had this for Christmas. Guide age is 9+, however I would say 14 would be the minimum age because: The text and diagrams contradict each other regarding wiring. Colours are incorrect on the diagrams for jointing cables, THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS if high power rechargeable cells are used and AIRFIX should correct this and remove from shelves / recall items. Wires are named incorrectly also. This is really appalling considering how big a company Airfix are. They must have bought this kit in and done no quality checks at all.
Assembly is difficult, poor fitting components (I am a 49 year old coms engineer and I know how to wire and assemble components but this is awful, definitely not for a nine year old.
To cap it all, the motor/fan unit does not generate enough flow to move the turbines, you have to start it by hand and keep on full power otherwise it stops, tried fresh batteries no joy. Hope it will be recycled into something useful when I return it and the shop bins it
