SWorkbench - Working on a 'Stringbag'

The latest edition of Workbench offers readers a fascinating look behind the scenes at the Royal Navy Historic Flight. Modellers looking to add a certain naval strike biplane to their build schedule will find plenty of inspiration in this edition too!

Brought back a lot of memories for me, my last trip while working for BAE Systems (at Dunsfold) was to Yeovil and the Historic Flight - returning some parts from the Firefly (sadly crashed a few years later) and Sea Hawk to them.

The Stringbag's were undergoing maintenance then (as was the Sea Fury). Having had a chance to poke around them, you realise how brave the crews were flying them in action. Beautiful Biplanes

I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, it was some ###### bringing me another loco!!

To anyone who hasn't read them, there are two excellent books by 'Stringbag' pilots that really 'tell it like it was':   'Bring Back My Stringbag'  by Lord Kilbracken & 'War In A Stringbag' by Charles Lamb. I don't know if they are still in print but both are available on ebay.
