As one of the highest profile aircraft in Royal Air Force history, the Westland Sea King HAS.3 served in the Search and Rescue role for almost 38 years, saving countless lives over this period and earning the admiration of a grateful British public. Possessing impressive endurance and all-weather flying capability, the stable and reliable Sea King allowed crews to carry out rescue missions in some of the most challenging flying conditions imaginable.

The Sea King is regarded as one of the most successful helicopter designs of all time, serving with particular distinction in the role of Search and Rescue, where it was responsible for saving the lives of many people both military and civilian. This latest release will present us all with something of a dilemma, as both scheme options are particularly appealing and may even cause some to consider a dual Sea King build project.

Best Sea King I've built
I urgently bought this after destroying an old tool Airfix AEW Mk2 kit. Compared to the old tool this is a joy. Lots more internal detail, the option of folded rotors... and most importantly a cockpit and canopy that goes together almost perfectly. I used some of the bits from the old tool to convert the kit to a 771 Naval Air Squadron Mk 5 (pics hopefully posted) With a few more conversion parts this kit has loads of potential.
My only problem was slightly warped main rotors. Thats not easy to fix. Replicating the "quilted" interior would improve the kit too although the internal detail is more than adequate out of the box.
I liked this so much I've immediately cashed in 24 flying hours and got the HC-4 commando variant to do a more weathered model.... Read more
