Description
The Golden Hind was an English galleon best known for its global circumnavigation between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake, who on his return with a haul of Spanish gold and other treasures was knighted by Queen Elizabeth.
The Hind was a well armed and nimble galleon, she was orginally commissioned as The Pelican and built in Deptford, London, where she was launched in 1577.
She was the flagship of an expedition to explore the regions beyond South America commanded by Drake, with personnel support of Queen Elizabeth of England. Drake's mission became one less of exploration and more of piracy as he wreaked havoc against Spanish interests in the region.

I have had this in my stash for a while and one day decided I fancied a challenge so pulled it down. It wasn't a breeze by any stretch but with a bit of cajoling and tlc it came together into a fine model. It's not for the beginner, but more experienced hands should enjoy the challenge.

The frustrated child returns
I was given this model as a child nearly 50 years ago. I just bought it again nearly 50 years on. I now remember just how frustrating it was to build all them years ago. Sadly the injection modelling is not very good. I've had to use very heavy duty spring clips to get the basic shell to actually fit together. Holes are often too small, Pegs & holes don't always aline, so you have to cut off pegs to fit the part. Really disappointed after paying quite a bit of money for the kit. Airfix, please refine the kit as it really is giving a once great company a bad name
