For more information on the De Haviland Vampire see our Aerodrome article.

The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet fighter to enter RAF service, coming after the Gloster Meteor.  Featuring a twin boom fuselage, which was to become a common feature of de Havilland designs, the Vampire proved a capable early jet fighter.  The Vampire T.11 trainer was developed from the fighter versions and served the RAF until 1967.  It was an excellent trainer and examples continue to fly today both in the UK and further afield.

Paint Scheme - de Havilland Vampire T.11, No.14 Squadron, Royal New Zealand Air Force

Airfix Starter Sets are ideal for beginners.  Medium Starter Sets are a little more challenging to build than the Small Starter Set range, with more parts.  Each Medium Starter Set includes glue, two brushes and six acrylic paints.

Great Kit!

I made this model a few months ago and it is great. The decals are very nice and it looks fantastic when finished. The weight is just 7 grams and just needs a little led weight. Everything goes together easily and smoothly. I strongly recommend it.

Disappointed

I had to trim a few parts to fit and then I still had a few gaps which i'll fill at a later date (no filler available at home at the time!) I will buy the other 1/72 Vampire in the range hopefully for a better kit

Not so much weight needed

A brilliant kit that goes together amazingly. Just to add, the instructions call for 7g nose weight. It was a tight squeeze trying to get all that in and in the end I could only get about 6g inside the nose and in the footwell. It turned out that even that is way tooo much when the model is finished as mine is heavy on the nose wheel. I reckon about 5g will do easily and is easier to fit in.
