Toboldlygo
After years of modeling planes, trains and automobiles - I finally got round to my first boat kit.I acquired a 1/76th Scale Higgins LCVP (split from the D-Day Landings set) and last night I set about building it... It went together extremely quickly - the fit and finish is superb, she's ready for some very light filling and then some paint will be applied. /media/tinymce_upload/cd7f4108d8e25b1e301d454b5b961632.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/c6e272bdcf455f30ae7bced80f809800.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/fff00bd6b9cd51dd5b2c54373db3ea4c.jpg

John Symmons
Hi James. After years of modeling planes, trains and automobiles - I finally got round to my first boat kit. I see you're branching out, hopefully it won't be your last ship build. If you enjoy this build maybe you'd like to try the RAF Rescue Launch, at 1/72 it'll fit quite nicely in with your aircraft. Remember we do this for fun John the Pom

Oops, I have the Rescue Launch en-route as I type. However I've got to get on with a number of OO Gauge Loco & Rolling Stock Commissions first - including finishing off a couple of Bloater kits (that's a GWR Fish Van btw), as the parts & decals I needed have all finally arrived. There'll probably be a photo surfacing tomorrow of the LCVP after the first stage of paint, but that will be it for a bit.

The stand comes with the kit, though I'm not sure if it's prototypical though.
Toboldlygo
Finally after a very busy month or so on the OO Gauge Loco & rolling stock commissions, I've been able to get the LCVP back on the workbench and into paint. /media/tinymce_upload/8dfe664340fb05c2b7c1ac2ee2b93d9f.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/2c8a2bd1df7b0edec35d64d3c7460861.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/57df61f603d8c1912a07fcf77f78ec7e.jpg Just some minor touching up to do and the guns to paint & fit and she'll be ready for transfers (all 3 of them!) Toboldlygo
Finished (I may still weather it) and a cameo.. /media/tinymce_upload/f407e16b75c890c00a05d29af0ee7108.jpgI managed to get outside when the wind calmed down for a bit../media/tinymce_upload/fc5fc2e27e36ddfbb9049f1e1f45cb41.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/72693fa9c5abb0fe584c77e3ed1d0669.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/7403e62a12c73190599f1ba3e2c4765f.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/077c0513223ac1b0ed0bed8d238c833b.jpg I have a few days respite from Loco's and Rolling Stock, so there may be another build or two ;)
John Symmons
Hi James.A nice read and an interesting build thanks for the photos and write up. I can't wait till you start the RAF Rescue Launch. By the way you might need to buy two ( or is that asking two much) as there are two versions with very different colour schemes, I'm already eyeing a second one at our LMS. You really are branching out, is that a Sherman looking for a nautical experience, I see lurking in plain sight.
