Kenneth ONeill
The only 1/12 scale car kit Airfix ever made that could be motorised was the 4.5l "Blower" Bentley. It didn't, at least in any boxing I've seen, actually include the motor. There may be a 1960s or 70s set of instructions on the Airfix Tribute Forum. wardl895
Wow that clears a lot up on what it should be used for, thank you for taking the time to explain what models it was used with, i shall look into some of those sets for pictures of them.Regards, Richard. Sailorman
I've got one of those. I'd bought it when Airfix first released their 1:24 Mustang. It quickly became apparant I had bought the wrong engine. So it still sits, unused, in its box!
Barkfast
Dear All, If anyone has a spare Airfix Electric Motor similar to the one described in Richard/Patrick's post (for a 1/12 scale Motor Car, CAT No. 2010 M. Code NO. 09399-4) I would be super happy to buy it!I have an old Airfix 1/12 Bentley crying out for a working electric motor!Regards,Peter

DavidJC
I very much look forward to that Barkfast. The 1/12 Bentley is a kit I always wanted but could never ever have affrorded (back then of course). Now I imagine the moulds are shot and it would take too much work that I'd be prepared to put in. On a separate though realted matter. I can't even now imagine how such a small motor, even at 3V, would have had enough power or torque to have moved a great big heavy kit like the Bentley. An aircraft propeller beautifully yes, but that huge Bentley? Did anyone ever motorise theirs and it actually work?
