| Description

Arguably one of the most distinctive aircraft of WWII, the Ju87B Stuka was a highly effective dive and attack bomber, capable of delivering precision bombing attacks, in support of the Germans ‘Lightning War’ concept.  It also specifically employed the use of screaming sirens, designed to spread fear and panic amongst the enemy, both military and civilian.

Perhaps the most feared exponent of the Blitzkrieg phenomenon was the dreaded Junkers Ju-87 Stuka, which could quite easily be described as the first modern ‘terror weapon’. Designed specifically to instil fear and confusion into both enemy troops and the population in general, the Stuka was a highly effective, precision dive-bomber, which was used as a flying propaganda machine for the Wehrmacht. A terrifying wailing siren was intentionally bolted to the Stukas airframe, to herald the fact that you were in the way of the Wehrmacht and as a consequence, found yourself in grave danger. The Stuka was the embodiment of Blitzkrieg!

More information on the development of the Junkers Ju87 B-1 Stuka can be seen in our Workbench blog.

As one of the most distinctive aircraft in the history of flight, the Junkers Ju-87 Stuka became the flying embodiment of the Wehrmacht’s Blitzkrieg onslaught and the might of the all-conquering Luftwaffe during the early months of the Second World War.

Providing precision strike support for advancing German troops, the Stuka would dive almost vertically onto its target, using a wailing siren to spread panic and confusion amongst opposition troops and the general population.

Used throughout WWII, this latest 1/48th scale tooling from Airfix is an extremely accurate representation of an early war Stuka, one of the most feared aircraft ever to take to the skies.

Hi, can the kit be built with the engine showing and also build the engine covers to slide over so the kit can be displayed both ways? Or is it simply either or? Thanks

Ju-87 B-1 Good but not perfect

Overall very nice moldings but not without some issues. I am building this kit currently so I've gotten into the details a bit. There is flash or mold seams that need to be cleaned-up especially on the details, which is bit tedious. Some clean-up is expected but this is more than usual for a new mold. There are quite few sink marks also on the fuselage and annoying sink holes in the middle of the rudder pedals. The fuselage halves fit perfectly. The wing to fuselage joint of the wing top is very good. I took some time to reduce the trailing edge of the wings...I could have been reduced further.
In conclusion the surface detail looks very good and the panels lines are reasonably deep. The moldings do require more clean-up than I was expecting. Dry fitting is essential. But the overall fit is very good. The single piece molded open clear parts are not my preference. So as the the review title states it is good but not perfect.

Ju87B-1 Stuka

Received this kit and can only say it is an absolute peach. The level of quality and detail is unreal. This has to be the best 1/48th scale kit on the market.

Ju87 b1 (1:48)

Can say the kit itself is lovelly ....very crisp clear moulding superior to any i own The main negative and why its marked down is the lackluster packaging ...the box is oversized all parts loose in a huge polythene bag ....my main gripe given the box size the A4 instruction booklet has been folded this inturn pinching the corner of my decal sheet Box back is plain white and not the standard airfix product we've come to expect

Humbrol Enamel paints for the kit's primary decal scheme.
