| Description

Discover how a combustion engine works by building your very own working model. Using the simplified instructions, piece together over 100 parts to build an engine with movement and lights.

This fantastic engine is a marvellous and fun way to learn all about how an internal combustion engine works. First the engine 'starts up' and then it runs 'firing' to show how the combusting fuel and air drives the pistons down to make the crankshaft turn.

Batteries required: 3 x 1.5v AA

Internal Combustion Engine

This is a very good product and just the ticket to engage my 11 year old grandson into the workings of an engine. Far better product than the Haynes engine just the screwdriver and the tight screws that lets this down otherwise I would have given it 5 stars

class favorite engine

this is a good product i think it is a very challenging piece and the screwdriver kept coming lose but over all it is a good product everyone like to look at it and asks how it was made the only thing is that it is very fiddly and can get mixed up easily. James mills year 11

Great model for a budding engineer

This is a good model, mostly easy to construct, no messing with glue or paint, some parts are push fit, the majority screw together. Nice use of coloured plastic. Contains a motor that drives the cylinders and the valves, showing the firing sequence. Spark plugs are replaced by red LEDs and each time you slide the on switch the model emits an ignition sound and then each spark plug lighting is accompanied by an explosion sound. Maybe the sounds are a little bit loud!

Only real criticism is the fact that the supplied screw driver doesn't quite fit the screw heads, so they're very easily damaged. (The vast majority of screw holes are very tight - maybe bore them out a little before inserting the screws. Luckily, I had a better fitting driver in my toolbox. Great value, and the instruction guide describes how internal combustion engines work.... Read more
