Description
The 'Female' version of the MkI tank was produced in larger numbers than its 'Male' partner, this was due to the four Vickers machine guns mounted on the sides, which were more effective in combat than the heavier guns carried by the 'Male' tank in the treacherous conditions on the Western Front.

It’s a mystery to me why Airfix didn’t make a “female” WW1 tank to go with the “male” many years ago. The tanks were made in equal numbers (75 each in mark 1) but kits of the “female” MG armed version in any scale are rare despite it often being more effective than the “male”.
What you get is a complete Mk.1 “male” kit with an extra sprue containing the parts to make the “female’s” Vickers gun sponsons. Part fit is good and the kit mostly quite easy. Assembling the springs for the rear wheels is tricky, best way I’ve found is to not glue the brackets in to the sides of the tank so they can be rotated into the right spot to connect to the wheels section once the springs are attached. Or miss off the wheels, which were often removed in real life. The later marks never had them at all because they were found to be almost useless and easily damaged....
