After the fall of France in 1940, the two great air arms of the day, Great Britain's RAF and Germany's Luftwaffe, faced each other in large numbers for the first time. The spearhead of the Luftwaffe was the Messerschmitt Bf109E. A formidable fighting machine, it had proved itself to be world class throughout its previous campaigns. Over southern England, in the summer of 1940, it faced a new set of challenges. The most serious for the German pilots being the widespread use of the RAF's finest fighter, the Supermarine Spitfre. More manoeuvrable than the 109E, the Spitfire was the finest fighter of its day. This set contains two aircraft flown by aces. Helmut Wick and John Dundas. Neither survived their fateful engagement on 28th November 1940.

Contesting the frenetic air battles taking place in the skies above Southern England during the summer of 1940, the Spitfire and Messerschmitt Bf109 were two of the most advanced fighter designs at that time and the world watched with bated breath to see which one would emerge victorious. With each aircraft having advantages over the other, the English Channel would prove decisive in reducing the effectiveness of the Luftwaffe’s most feared aircraft and establish the Spitfire’s aviation legacy

Great kit! Went together really nicely! The kit is very detailed and the paint schemes were accurate to the time period. The spitfire was a bit difficult to build as the wings were awkward to put on, and the Messerschmitt had a little bit of flash on the exhausts but apart from that the kit was really exiting to build.

Great Gift Set
A good duel kit set that fit together nicely. The paint schemes were realistic which has allowed for a detailed finish. The only issue was with the stand where I was unable to fit them together properly so had to glue them in the end.

Spitfire mk1a - Bf 109-E4
This was a fun kit to build, and was really nicely molded. My only complaint is that when I attached the bottom section of the wings to the fuselage on the spitfire, I had to shave off quite a bit of plastic to get it to fit. Besides that, it was a lot of fun to build, and a great overall experience.
