| Description

Of all the RAF bombers involved in operations over Germany during the Second World War, the Avro Lancaster must rank as the most famous of them all. As the strategic bombing offensive gathered momentum, it was the Lancaster that came to the fore after entering service with the RAF in 1942, overshadowing its other four engine contemporaries, such as the Handley-Page Halifax and the Short Stirling.

The Lancaster flew 156,000 sorties and dropped 608,612 long tons (618,378 tonnes) of bombs between 1942 and 1945. Just 35 completed more than 100 successful operations and 3,249 were lost in action. It was the Lancaster that spearheaded the battles for Berlin and Hamburg, as well as playing a vital role in the devastating raid upon Dresden. The Lancaster has become the symbol of the Bomber Command and as such, a symbol of the British air power during the Second World War.

Better than average, but still holds some classic Airfix issues

This kit is pretty solid all round, the only drawback are the bomb bay doors. like on some older kits they came bent. Now working out how to bend them straight so I can this finished

Great kit. amazing detail but

Amazing kit, perfect lines, very good (mostly) fit and great shape. So much better that the older version of this kit in the old BBMF kit. detail is immaculate, very little flash and very clear instructions. however, it is not always clear which part is for the Mkiii or Mki. Also its a shame i cant finish the kit, my canopy piece broke, and there were no spares. In addition, it is a shame that you have to buy the bomber resupply if you want to carry bombs.....

Amazing kit

This kit was fantastic. The amount of precision on the outside is great! There was just some difficulty adding the bomb bay doors, as they appeared to be bent in a curve and not straight. I had to flip them around, and the result is adequate. Even though, it is a great kit.
