The best known of all American tanks, the Sherman M4A2 was designed in 1941 as an improvement on the earlier Lee and Grant medium tanks.  The Sherman embodied the results of careful study of tank warfare in the first years of World War II.

Simply Classic!

A great introductory kit for the beginner - this is Airfix at it's simple best. You can get a very effective finish with minimal effort. Yes, due to it's age there is flash, but that is easily disposed of with a sharp blade. Use superglue for those classic Airfix tracks and you are good to go!

Sherman tank

Recently I have purchased the operation overlord and d day battlefront gift sets, both of which include Shermans. There was so much flash (bits of exes plastic) on the kit’s parts, and the thing that really bothered me were the wheels. The holes were either too small or too large to fit into the bogeys, meaning that I have had a lot of difficulty putting them together, and have kind of pushed them aside for now. It looks a bit too small, but when constructed properly, looks quite nice.

It's not actually an M4A2 at all

...it's a plain old M4, also known - to the British - as a Mark 1. The clues are the shape of the engine deck and the lack of a loader's hatch. So Airfix had this right in the first place, all those years ago. The details were a bit soft to begin with back in 1960-whatever and age hasn't helped. The only thing that really jars is the turret, which is quite crude in how it is moulded and looks about 20% too small. Still, it looks like a Sherman and goes together well. For the money it is very good value.
